Entrepreneurial Inspo <3 <3

Aditi and Ameera are both very inspiring and successful entrepreneurs.

Ameera owns a colonial antique furniture store, Camelot. The furniture is gorgeous – unique pieces from all over the south of India. She has had the store for about 20 years, but for the past 3 years, she closed the “actual” store and was renting out the space for events, small weddings, photo shoots, etc., while continuing to buy and sell furniture,  interior designing people’s vacation homes and traveling (THE LIFE!!!). The furniture is beautiful, but the actual space of the store is breathtaking – an old colonial villa (colonial antiques in a colonial setting… dreamy!) with a giant staircase leading up to the front terrace of the store, which has marble floors and is framed by HUGE stone archways and pillars. Inside there are two main showrooms with lots of windows, high ceilings, and white walls, creating a spacious feel against the dark wooden trim on the windows and doors. Aditi rents part of the building behind the store as office space for her very own marketing company, which she started 2 years ago, Butter me Up. Yes, she is 26 and has her own marketing company! She has 4 employees and quite a remarkable number of clients. Coming from a fellow former marketer, I must say I am extremely impressed. You’ve got to have some serious cojones and a serious work ethic to do this. Their 2 year anniversary is coming up (Oct 31). Check them out: http://buttermeup.in/

Successful women business owners… I swoooon. Keep ’em comin’ world!

[Also, not sure what is in the water in this area of Bombay, but it seems everyone that Ameera and Aditi know either have their own company, own a store, are photographers or models, have their own clothing / makeup line or are starting a business. It is like I have landed in celebrity land: the LA of India!]
